I am really excited to be in the first pair to take part in the Happy Crafters Design team Challenge. It's 4 projects over four weeks using a stamp set chosen by my up line, the lovely Ann Melvin of Positively Papercraft.
Ann bought the stamp set for us, and posted it to us. with the brief. Make 4 projects of our choosing, put them on our blogs and showcase the stamp set chosen.
And the stamp set was MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE!
When I got the set I was a little worried! It wasn't one I had even noticed before, mainly because I tend to stick with flowers and never go for anything cutesy. So I panicked a little I will be honest!
But I have thoroughly enjoyed the projects and thinking outside of my comfort zone. I am very much still learning and have never really pushed myself outside the box. So it was good to be challenged,
I have kept my projects fairly easy, mainly so they could be recreated if desired. So I hope you enjoy them. The first one is below, and is a card.
The card was created from thick Whisper White A4, cut in half on the short side to create a top folding note card, which measures 4 1/8 by 5 7/8. I used the gorgeous Naturally Eclectic Designer Paper as a first mat, as the blues and greens lend themselves to a sea feeling. I then used the reverse of the same paper to create a smaller mat.
I chose Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point card stock for my waves, and cut them using the Seasonal Layers Thinlits dies.
I stamped the ship, sentiment, and little heart from the Message in a Bottle set, with Tranquil Tide ink onto whisper white, and cut it into a small Oval using the stitched shapes framelits die set. I mounted this onto a larger Oval from the same set, cut from Pacific Point. To finish I layered some pool party shimmer ribbon behind the Ovals.
It is definitely a very simple card, but I think its also really effective. I hope you like it!
